The paper will end by explaining the marketing plan that will be used to launch and market the product in the targeted markets. The Product The new personal digital assistant model will be referred to as the marble 100 PDA. It is an improvement on the current PDA models. This means that the product will have more features and superior capabilities in order to me et the specific needs of the customers. Thus its outstanding capabilities will be used to differentiate it from its competitors. The products overall goal is to give its users more value for their money by offering additional features at low prices. The marble 100 PDA is a handheld multimedia gadget that is Wi-Fi enabled. It uses the Linux operating system. The Linux operating system has been chosen due to the fact that it is less vulnerable to security risks. Thus the users will be able to avoid losing their data due to attacks by viruses and hackers. It will have a standard storage capacity of 20 gigabytes. This will enable it to store more information than the current models. Besides, its memory can be supplement by external storage devices such as flash disks. The standard features of the product include a touch screen that will be used for data entry. It has a web browser that will enable the users to connect to the internet. It is also equipped with an event organizer, calcula tor and an address book that can store up to 1000 contacts. Evaluation Customer’s Need Technological advancement in the information and communication industry has led to the development of various communication and data storage devices. For example, cell phones have been developed to facilitate wireless communication. Digital music players such as iPods have also been introduced to enable their users to entertain themselves on the go. The need to access and share information as well as organizing tasks led to the introduction of laptop computers. Since each of these devices performs a specific task, an individual is compelled to curry several devices at the same time in order to perform all tasks. This has been very difficult due to two reasons which are as follows. First, it is expensive to buy and operate several gadgets that perform only one or two functions. Second, it is cumbersome to curry several devices at the same time due to the weight involved and lack of enough space. Consequently, consumers in the industry prefer to own a single device that can meet all their communication and entrainment needs. The marble 100 seeks to fulfill this need by giving the users the opportunity to perform all their communication tasks such as calling, accessing the internet and sharing information. Besides, it gives the users a wide range of entailment options. Due to the high costs of purchasing the other PDA models, many potential users have not been able to acquire them. Thus the marble 100 is lowly priced in order to make it affordable in the mainstream market. Differentiation and Market Appeal The marble 100 PDA is superior to the existing models due to the fact that it has the fastest processor. This makes it more efficient and effective to use. Unlike the current models, the marble 100 has additional features such as a word processor and compatibility with a variety of software and peripheral devices. Consequently, it is likely to compete effectively with the other models in the market. Competition The PDA market is currently characterized by intense competition. Even though this is a threat to growth, it indicates that there is a demand for PDA products. In order to overcome the competition, the new model has been equipped with additional features. Besides, its recommended retail price of $ 250 per unit is the lowest in the market. This will make it more attractive to the customers.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Various Aspects of Marketing Management specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Growth Possibilities The PDA market is likely to grow rapidly in the future due to the following reasons. First, the on-going research and development in the industry will lead to advancement in technology. Consequently, it will be possible to produce high quality PDAs at low costs in order to encourage purchases through low prices. Second, the modern economy requires effective and convenient communication devices. This will lead to a rise in the demand for marble 100 PDAs in future as the economy becomes more complex. How: Marketing Plan Marketing Objectives The main objective in the first year is to create a market for the product. Consequently, the product is expected to achieve a market share of 4 percent in the US market. This will be achieved by selling at least 250,000 units of the product at a wholesale price of $ 200. Thus the projected sales revenue in the first year is $ 50 million. In the second year, the main objective will be to break-even after selling at least 300,000 units of the product. Segmentation and Niche The marble 100 PDA is associated with the mainstream niche since it targets a large demographic audience. The primary consumer target includes the middle income earners and the upper incomer earners. This segment consists of professionals who require a single gadget to help them organize their schedules and to interact with others. The secondary consumer target includes students in various learning institutions who need multi-media devices for communication and entertainment purposes. This segment consists of persons in the age bracket of between 15 to 30 years. The primary business target includes medium sized and large sized organizations that intend to promote efficient communication and sharing of information among their employees. The organizations in this segment have an annual sales volume of at least $20 million and over 50 workers. The secondary business target includes small sized organizations and physicians who need to access medical information or records frequently. Positioning The positio ning strategy is based on product differentiation. Thus the marble 100 will be positioned as the best model with the highest level of versatility, added value and convenience. This makes it a suitable model for both office and personal use. The other features of the product that will be emphasized include multiple communication and entertainment capabilities. These features will be used to differentiate the product from its competitors in the market. Marketing Mix Product The product to be marketed is the marble 100 which is a new PDA model. The features of the product as discussed above will be used to differentiate it in the market. Each unit of the marble 100 will be entitled to a warranty that will last for one year. Besides, the customers will be entitled to free repairs and technical advice for six months.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Pricing The pricing strategy will focus on positioning the product as the cheapest in the market in order to facilitate market penetration. This is based on the fact that the main marketing objective is to achieve a market share of 4 percent in the first year. Consequently, the recommended retail price will be $ 250 while the wholesale price will be $ 250. These prices are the lowest in the industry at the moment and will encourage potential clients to purchase the marble 100 PDA. Where: Distribution Since the marble 100 PDA is a new product, selective distribution will be used to reach the customers. This means that the product will be distributed through distributors or retailers who are well established. As the product gains popularity in the market, new distribution channels will be added especially in the first year. The implementation of this strategy will continue until all the targeted markets are covered. The possibility of distributing the product through mobile phone outl ets will also be explored. The decision to use mobile phone outlets is based on the fact that PDAs are related to cell-phones thus the cell-phone customers are likely to buy the marble 100 PDA. Demonstration products and brochures will be given to the distributors to support their marketing activities in regard to the marble 100 PDA. Promotion Research will be done on the effectiveness of various types of media in reaching the customers. This will help in choosing the most appropriate media and time to reach the potential customers through adverts. The chosen media will then be used to popularize the brand through messages that highlight the features that differentiate it in the market. Public relation activities will also be used to promote the brand. This will involve creating brand awareness through press releases and articles about the product. Video contests among customers will also be organized in order to attract clients. Trade sales promotions will be used to motivate the d istributors or retailers. When: Product Launch The product will be launched on 3rd of May 2011. The following activities will take place in preparation for the product launch. First, industry shows and education programs will be used to educate the distributors on the features and advantages of the product. Second, samples of the product will be reviewed by celebrities, opinion leaders and selected consumers. Their feedback will be used to modify the product if necessary. Marketing Evaluation Research will be done on the performance of the product in the market. This will be done on the sixth month after launching the product. The research findings will help in understanding the product’s features that are highly valued by the customers. It will also help in assessing the effectiveness of the advertising and sales campaign activities. The degree to which the customers are satisfied with the product will help in assessing the markets’ response. Conclusion The marble 100 PDA model aims at giving customers more value for their money through additional features and low prices. The success of the product in the market is based on the fact that the demand for a single device with multiple communication and entertainment capabilities is on the rise. Besides, the product’s superior quality differentiates it from its competitors and positions it as the best. By focusing on market penetration through low prices, the product is expected to achieve a market share of at least 4% in the first year and break-even in the second year. Promotional activities such as advertising and contests will be used to create brand awareness. The Different Types of Domestic Abuse

The Different Types of Domestic Abuse Domestic abuse is a growing problem that affects millions of people in all kinds of relationships including traditional marriages, same-sex partnerships, and even relationships where there is no sexual intimacy involved. While physical violence is the most blatant form of domestic abuse, sometimes called intimate partner violence,  it  not the only form of domestic abuse. The Main Types of Abuse Domestic abuse can be emotional, physical, sexual, emotional,  psychological and  financial. It is harm inflicted by a current or former spouse or partner. Emotional Abuse Emotional abuse involves actions designed to destroy a persons sense of self-respect or self-worth. It includes constant, an unrelenting verbal onslaught of insults and  criticisms  designed to humiliate and belittle the victim. It is often combined with other forms of abuse and used as a method to gain control over the victim. Although there are no physical scars, the emotional scars can be debilitating to victims. Sexual Abuse Sexual abuse  not only includes rape and sexual assault, but it also includes demeaning behavior like exposing a partners body to friends, forcing a partner into posing for pornography, secretly videotaping a partner while engaging in sex, or forcing a partner to have sex without using protection. Reproductive coercion, which is forcing a partner into having an abortion is a form of domestic sexual abuse. Another form of domestic sexual abuse is sexually assaulting someone who is unable to refuse due to disability, illness, intimidation or the influence of alcohol or other drugs.   There are three main categories of sexual abuse: Using physical force to compel someone to have sex against their will, whether the act is completed or not.Attempting or having sex with someone who is unable to understand the nature of the act or unable to decline participation or is unable to communicate their unwillingness.Abusive sexual contact of any kind. Physical Abuse Physical abuse involves injuring, disabling or killing  the victim. Physical abuse can be performed with a weapon or restraint or merely using body, size or strength to harm another person. The injury from the abuse does not have to major. For example, an abuser could forcefully shake the victim in anger. While the victim may not require medical treatment, the shaking would still be a form of physical abuse. Physical violence can include burning, biting, choking, grabbing, pinching, punching, pushing, throwing, scratching, shoving, shaking, or slapping. Threats of Violence Violent threats involve the use of words, gestures, motions, looks or weapons to communicate a threat to frighten, harm, injure, disable, rape or kill. The act does not have to be carried out for it to be abusive behavior. Psychological Abuse Psychological abuse is a broad term that includes acts, threats of acts or coercive tactics to cause someone fear and trauma. If there has been previous physical or sexual abuse in the relationship, any further threat of abuse is considered psychological violence. Psychological abuse can include: HumiliationControlling what the victim can and cannot do.Withholding information.Diminishing or embarrassing the victim.Isolating the victim from friends and family. Financial Abuse Financial abuse is one of the most common forms of domestic abuse and also the difficult to recognize, even for the victims. It can involve a partner denying the victim access to money or other resources. Refusing to allow a spouse to work or get an education is also a form of financial abuse. It is often seen in homes where an abuser forces the victim into isolation by limiting when they can communicate with family and friends. Isolation makes it more difficult for a victim to have any form of financial freedom. Get Help Immediately Research shows that domestic violence usually gets progressively worse. Rarely does it stop because the abuser promises that it will never happen again. If you are in an abusive relationship, there are many resources available to help. You do not have to stay with an abusive partner. It is important to seek help immediately.

The improvement of the writing style Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

The improvement of the writing style - Essay Example The improvement of the writing style Language barriers leave this writer without confidence but I do want to learn. There’s been so much information given and through hard work and diligence, I intend on being a good writer. I thank everyone for their insights and critical reviews that are sometimes painful. Hopefully, the end result is a better more clear writing style with apparently less effort. My first paper â€Å"Late Flight† at the end of January is potentially my best paper. I say â€Å"potentially† because I now understand the importance drafting, searching for ideas, outlining, peer review, rewriting is to the writing process. Creating a story or report is similar to building a house. The Designer (writer) must incorporate all known laws, know about all the materials needed, understand the weight of the structure and add supports where necessary. The paint is the title of the paper, and the entry way is the very first line capturing the reader using a â€Å"Wow!† appearance. My first paper lacked many details and the entry way was unlit and not swept. I now know it should have been written this way: â€Å"In Shanghai, down below, the raindrops fell like tears flooding my hopefulness with despair. The next time I am home, I will provide towels to my friends as I say ‘Good Bye’ from a bubble window 30,000 feet above them on my way to America.† Peer review and writing are much clearer to me now reflecting what is inside of me rather than what I see on the surface. I think now Chinese, Americans, Canadians or anyone feels the same types of separations the same. It is the mapmakers, the ones who draw the lines saying â€Å"You are not the same as the other person five feet away on the other side of the line† that turn people against each other. We are mostly the same people without the lines; and our differences are naturally different and wonderful! My second paper on guns might have been too one-sided in opinion. It is true that terrible tragedies did occur from gun-toting assassins but I did not ‘reflect’ deeply enough probably because English is a difficult language for me. On a deeper reflection, if the government did ban guns altogether then people would not stop killing each other. In my own c ountry, The Nanking Massacre in 1937 might have been different if the population had been armed. My use of Obama as a point suggesting it was his fault government didn’t do something about gun control was short sighted. Men and women in Congress are the Law makers in the USA and it is their responsibility to pass laws laid before them. I have read were it was said the main reason Americans should have guns is to protect them from an over-bearing government. I can’t say if I believe this or not because I have not thought about the matter enough; I’ve learned that technique’ in this class, â€Å"Think before you write.† Today, after the learning more about structure, I would probably write the paper with less emphasis on decisive language intended to galvanize and polarize each side of the issue; for and against. I know now this issue is quite important to the American public and if my paper were to make a difference, my paper needed to attract the c ompeting side by using arguments designed to speak to their values of â€Å"Love, honor, dignity and independence.† I would write it like this: Weapons designed for defense of Individual liberties and rights seem to add a loophole to those wanting to rain destruction down on innocent civilians. The balance between the 2nd Amendment and wanton murder again tipped in favor towards those focused on mass killings leaving more questions than answers. There must be a deeper discussion by all interested parties or headlines will continue to incite fear

Cross Cultural Advertising Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Cross Cultural Advertising - Essay Example ds that generalize their approach to a distinctive market place.’ This contextualizes this study, consequently augmenting the fact that advertising has relied on culture to deliver a message effectively. This is what entails the whole concept of Cultural Advertising. Furthermore, the current element of globalization has resulted in the industry adjusting accordingly, and this necessitated the need to move from a cultural based advertising platform to a cross-cultural one. This has been facilitated by the developments in social media that makes it possible to share content widely and rapidly among consumers. As much as this seems to be a noble idea, it has raised questions regarding the effect of designing advertisements across platforms. In light of this, the controversy generated raises the question, ‘Is cross-cultural advertising bringing a unified message or a unified culture into a society?’ The affirmative power of advertising is brought into this research th rough previous studies, and this facilitates the learning of how culture influences advertising and focusing on the advertising strategies and techniques used. This enables the proper adaptation into a country’s culture. Additionally, it brings to light the individualistic structuring of the American/European culture and the collective or communal Asian culture. Another factor to consider is the way that previous studies focused on the means rather than the consequences on the society. To this end, the subsequent research proposal will put emphasis on the following: In consideration of the research, the first assumption that can be made is that a cross-cultural advertising approach is an obstacle to a society’s endemic culture. Studies have confirmed that most consumers have had some form of opposition and negative reactions to the cross-cultural approach to advertising, thereby supporting this assumption. Therefore, this strengthens the understanding that the strategy is not particularly

Tale of Two Cities Essay Example for Free

Tale of Two Cities Essay In the novel, â€Å"A Tale of Two Cities†, Charles Dickens says that the era of the French Revolution was an era of paradox. He also says that the period was so far like the present period. This mean that our era isnt that different than the period of the French Revolution. This means that our era is also an era of paradox. The reasons why I believe that our era is also an era of paradox is that we have more, but are grateful less; we have more knowledge, but less judgment; and we have done larger things, but not better things. I believe that our era is also an era of paradox because we have more, but are grateful less. An example of this would be the larger houses we now have. Due to these larger houses, families are drifting apart. In the past, families of five or even seven children would all live in a three bedroom apartment. These families were as close as ever, they depended on each other. Now that everyone is moving into larger houses, these families are becoming more distant to one another. These larger houses may seem amazing because of how many bedrooms it has or how much space there is, but it is also breaking the families that live in it. Since there is more space, the siblings arent always in each others shadows anymore. The siblings also dont need to depend on each other as often because they are all in different parts of the house doing their own thing. Another example of this would be the expansion of infrastructure. We are building more highways and submissions which is giving others a bet ter, more comfortable way of living. However; because we are continuing to expect more, infrastructure is destroying what used to be. We are losing our natural resources and our farms from which our food comes from. In the past, we would be able to just walk down to the farm to pick up our groceries, now we have to drive to the grocery store however miles away to buy even a carton of milk. This is why I believe that our era is also an era of paradox. I believe that our era is also an era of paradox because we have more knowledge but less judgment. An example of this is the destruction due to technology. With technology constantly changing, there is no end to what we can do. Although this sounds amazing, we are forgetting that technology has caused many problems, from global warming to health problems like myopia and cancer. We are exposed to x-rays with TVs, computers, and other technology. Although many say technology makes looking up information and communicating with people a breeze, whatever you are doing on the computer, radiation is still emitted. Another example of this is the impact of technology on childre n. We live in a world of iPads, flat screen televisions, smart phones, GPS navigation systems, electric cars, and the Internet. Children now   are growing up in the fast-moving digital age. Now, toddlers can learn to count, learn to say the ABCs, learn to draw, learn their first words and recognize animal sounds, all on the iPad. At the touch of a screen, you can download all kinds of applications for your child. It is amazing, and a little scary. They are growing up learning to use a smart phone before they can even talk. The problem with this is that children have been introduced to many technological devices that is potentially pushing them into solitude. This is an alarming trend that has developed with the advent of the 21st century. Technology has taken over human lives. The younger generation nowadays would rather sit at home and chat with their friends over the Internet rather than going out and making new friends or playing with their existing friends. Whereas twenty or t hirty years ago, children use to past their time in the sandbox and put on puppet shows for their parents. This is why I believe that our era is also an era of paradox. I believe that our era is also an era of paradox because weve done larger things but not better things. For example, today, we enjoy a much safer, uncontaminated food supply, and a far more varied diet, than our parents and grandparents did. This has produced successively taller, sturdier, and healthier generations in this century. In addition, fortifying food with various nutrients, such as iodine added to salt and B vitamins added to flour, has prevented hundreds of thousands of cases of debilitating disease, and has done so in a manner that requires little or no effort from the people who benefit. However, while scientists discover how to modify our foods, we cant even figure out how to stop poverty. Its great that our nutrition has become safer to eat, but in some countries, people have no food at all. I believe that helping stop poverty and helping these poor countries receive even a loaf of bread is more important then spending months on how to figure out what chemicals to add to certain foods to make it more â€Å"safe†. Another example is how we have gone to the moon and back but yet, we cant even say hello to our new neighbor. Going to the moon is a great thing because it helped us discover so many things about our universe and has pursued scientific activities that address fundamental questions about the history of Earth, the solar system and the universe and about our place in them. However, if we are able to do all this, why cant we do something as simple as saying hello to our new neighbor. I believe that this is because we are too busy’ to make ourselves known to those who live nearest to us, or because others fear they will ‘have nothing in common’. Also, many of us treat our neighbors like ‘caretakers’ -calling on them only when they need something. There is not one thing about this that is okay. This is why I believe that our era is also an era of paradox. I believe that our era is also an era of paradox because we have more, but are grateful less; we have more knowledge, but less judgment; and we have done larger things, but not better things. As Charles Dickens s ays in his novel â€Å"A Tale of Two Cities†, that the period was so far like the present period. This means that our era isn’t that different then the era of the french revolution. Even though it was many years ago, our era is also an era of paradox. We as humans are still doing things we believe is helping our society but is also destroying it at the same time. Therefore, no matter the era, our periods stay the same, more or less. Video Analysis of Color Adjustment Essays -- Marlon T. Riggs

Marlon T. Riggs’ video, Color Adjustment, offers the viewer an exciting trip though the history of television, focusing on the representation, or lack thereof, of African-Americans. A perfectly chosen combination of television producers, actors, sociologists, and cultural critics join forces to offer insight and professional opinion about the status of African-Americans in television since the inception of television itself. As Color Adjustment traces the history of television shows from Amos n’ Andy and Julia to "ghetto sitcoms" and The Cosby Show, the cast of television professionals and cultural critics discuss the impacts those representations have on both the African-American community and our society as a whole. Color Adjustment continually asks the question: "Are these images positive?" This video raises the viewer’s awareness about issues of positive images for African-Americans on television. I chose this video because it raised my awareness by questioning the difference between positive role models, such as The Cosby Show, and positive images for all African-Americans. The issues discussed and comments made by the cast piqued my interest and helped change my perspective on the history of African-American representation in the media, especially in the realm of television. Color Adjustment contains more than just endless ‘talking heads’ – it has elements of fact, history, and professional opinion all blended together in an engaging format. It was extremely exciting to hear the TV producers like Hal Kanter and David Wolper talk about their own productions in retrospect. Most importantly to me, Color Adjustment changed my perspective on African-American representation in the media by challenging me to think about images... ...writers of all races and every ethnicity could be shown this video to learn about stereotypes to avoid in their screenplays. Television and movie producers could benefit from hearing other producers such as Hal Kanter and David Wolper talk about their experiences with African-American representation in their shows. Viewing Color Adjustment was an informative pleasure. It was a stimulating video that led me on a personal journey of enlightenment. It chronicled African-American trials in television representation and provided me with the knowledge to examine future representations in the media more carefully. This video was a great addition to this class and to me as a person. I hope that there will be a Part 3 to this series that I can show in my own classrooms one day; I also hope with continuing education Parts 3 and 4 will have more "positive" images to discuss.

Software Developing

The software was developed iteratively by submitting module by module. The requirements were changing time-to-time and the software had to go many changes throughout the development. Small chunks were developing from time-to-time which required some changes to be incorporated in the system. In the meanwhile the developed modules were tested and the feedback was collected continuously to incorporate in our system. The initial version of the software was released with some simple functionalities and the changes and feedback and requirements were updated which added some advancement to the software we developed. 2.2 Architectural Strategies 2.2.1 Programming Language Python- As python is one of the world's powerful programming languages it gives some of the built-in modules for development which makes system faster and easy for development. The classes and methods are developed using python. The prediction model uses some of the libraries in python. PromQL- The query for extraction and generation of the graphs has been written in PromQL query language 2.2.2 Future Plans As it comes to the future it will be taking the corrective actions automatically which means using AI agents for handling all the aspects of failure and recovery of the system. The enhancement includes chatbot implementation for limited set of queries about the usage stats and analysis of the data. 2.2.3 User Interface Paradigm The user will be provided with the dashboard for the results and reports generated. The dashboard provides various features like querying on the data and stats about the usage of resources and various functionalities. The predictive analysis will be shown in a console of the IDE PyCharm. The user will be given set of values through which the user get an idea about the usage. 2.2.4 Error Detection and Recovery ErrorDetection is carried out by user testing and slack bot has been setup to report the bug in the system. The different datasets are used for testing the ARIMA model has been carried out to test the efficiency of the system.Recovery has been done by alerting the user about the crash in the system using slack automated system and the systems stable state (previous state) will be restored. 2.2.5 Data Storage Management The data are extracted from the exporters and stored in a csv file. The extraction happens between an interval of 5 sec. As the data will be not accessed frequently and modified the data is stored on the stable storage within the machine running the programs. 2.2.6 Communication Mechanism Prometheus used http protocol to communicate with its client system and members. Message passing mechanism will be used to communicate with the exporters for the extraction of the raw data about usage of the resources. Grafana uses http protocol for extraction of the data from prometheus. The data will be passed by prometheus to grafana using the endpoint ‘/metrics'. 2.2.7 Graph Generation Mechanism The prometheus tool uses a query language called PromQL used for aggregating the extracted data and based on those factors the graphs will be generated. 2.3 System Architecture As it comes to system architecture typical style has been used which is separate modules and microservices has been used to build the system.Figure 2.2 System Architecture 2.4 Data Flow Diagrams2. 4.1 Data Flow Diagram – Level 0 Figure 2.3 Data Flow Diagram – Level 0 Initial step is to collect the data from the system (AWS) and the data are stored in CSV file for further analysis. Nintendo †Creative Product Promotion Essay

When Nintendo release a new console or game, they usually conduct a large marketing product to make their products appeal to the mass market. The first way that Nintendo advertise is through television, they usually have their advertisements shown throughout the day and in the evening in order to try to appeal to the family market because Nintendo’s products are usually targeted towards families and children. Nintendo in their television adverts try to make the view have the desire to buy the product, an example of this could be the initial marketing of the Nintendo Wii where the advertisements on television where an showing how people could become fitter by playing Wii games therefore making people desire the product. Another way that Nintendo used to advertise their products in the UK was through advertisements in newspapers and magazines. They used this form of advertising because it appeals to a wide range of people and also the adverts can be changed to suite the target audience of the magazines. Personal Selling Due to the millions of products they sell it is hard for Nintendo to personally sell their own products face to face, most of their products are either brought from the Nintendo online or brought through retailers. Personal selling is mainly done to customers buying from retail stores from the staff trying to sell customers more accessories. When the retailers were selling the Nintendo Wii the staff had a variety of different statistics given to them by Nintendo to show the customer how good the product is and how it can influence the day to day life of the customer. Sales Promotion When the Nintendo Wii came out Nintendo and some of the major retailers selling the product created competitions giving people the opportunity to win a Nintendo Wii, this then creates a buzz around the product and people become interested in what it is and then decide they would desire the product. Nintendo also used sales promotion in retailers where they funded demo stands where potential customers can use the product to see the benefits and decide whether they would like to buy the product, creating a stand for customers to try products is costly however opens up to a wide range of customers who otherwise may not be interested in the product. Public Relations Nintendo and other large companies that have association with creating video games often release statements, images and information in the media regarding the release of their new products. As I stated before in advertising Nintendo advertises its products in many different ways including Television, newspapers, magazines and various websites online. Direct Marketing Nintendo have a section of their website called â€Å"Club Nintendo†, this is where devoted customers and hear the latest news about Nintendo products and also collect stars which can be exchanged for rewards in the shop. Email newsletters are distributed to members of Club Nintendo telling them about upcoming products or evens, this is a great asset to Nintendo as a company because it allows them to build a solid customer base. Walkers Advertising Walkers main form of advertising is through television, this is because crisps appeal to a very wide group of people which affects almost all demographics. Walkers advertise by using ex footballer and television presenter Gary Lineker, this endorsement attracts attentions because Lineker is a well known celebrity and has a comical acting style within the adverts making them entertaining rather than giving information regarding the product. Another way Walkers advertise is through the press this is very important because it attracts a wide range of audience and does not single out one demographic. Personal Selling Due to the product not being large and expensive enough to make one sale make a big difference, walkers to not focus on personal selling. Walkers mainly concentrate on appealing to the mass market, they do this through mainstream advertising and often get involved in helping fund raising for various charity events such as comic relief and cancer research. Sales Promotion The major way that Walkers do sales promotion is through completions they advertise their competitions on television, press and on the packaging itself. Walkers have a separate website just for completions where customers can view and enter all the competitions. The latest competition that Walkers held gave customers the chance to win ? 50,000 through guessing the flavour of a packet of one of their mystery crisps. When deciding how to advertise this competition Walkers had to make a decision whether to advertise it on television, they saw it worthwhile to advertise on TV because if people saw the product in the supermarket without advertising on they may not know there is a competition so with the advertisement on the television then they will see the â€Å"? † on the packaging and be attacked to that product because they have seen it on television. Public Relations Walkers use public relations such as press interviews and articles when they are introducing an new product or altering a classic. More and more products are being cutinised for being unhealthy for the nation, Walkers have reduced the saturated fat in their products by 50% over the last decade whilst maintain the same taste, this has attracted much attention from the media as they see Walkers are working hard to develop new products that will aid the country to become healthier. Direct Marketing Walkers have a section of their website where customers can sign up and hear about the latest games, news and competitions through e-mail. This gives Walkers the chance to advertise there products cheaply and in greater detail to the people who enjoy the product.

Famous Quotes from Margaret Thatcher

Famous Quotes from Margaret Thatcher The Iron Lady of British politics, Margaret Thatcher was the longest continuously serving prime minister since 1827. Her conservative politics led to the implementation of such radical policies as the poll tax. Quotes by Margaret Thatcher We want a society where people are free to make choices, to make mistakes, to be generous and compassionate. This is what we mean by a moral society; not a society where the state is responsible for everything, and no one is responsible for the state. The younger generation doesnt want equality and regimentation, but opportunity to shape their world while showing compassion to those in real need. Economics are the method; the object is to change the soul. In politics if you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman. Any woman who understands the problems of running a home will be nearer to understanding the problems of running a country. Ive got a womans ability to stick to a job and get on with it when everyone else walks off and leaves it. It may be the cock that crows, but it is the hen that lays the eggs. The womans mission is not to enhance the masculine spirit, but to express the feminine; hers is not to preserve a man-made world but to create a human world by the infusion of the feminine element into all of its activities. I owe nothing to Womens Lib. The battle for womens rights has been largely won. Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you arent. The wisdom of hindsight, so useful to historians and indeed to authors of memoirs, is sadly denied to practicing politicians. There is no such thing as Society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. As God once said, and I think rightly... If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing. I love argument, I love debate. I dont expect anyone just to sit there and agree with me, thats not their job. I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left. If my critics saw me walking over the Thames they would say it was because I couldnt swim. Im extraordinarily patient provided I get my own way in the end. To wear your heart on your sleeve isnt a very good plan; you should wear it inside, where it functions best. Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides. To me, consensus seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values, and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects. U-turn if you want to. The ladys not for turning. You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it. What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose. Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. its not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; its when youve had everything to do and youve done it. I am in politics because of the conflict between good and evil, and I believe that in the end good will triumph. After almost any major operation, you feel worse before you convalesce. But you do not refuse the operation. Do you think you would ever have heard of Christianity if the Apostles had gone out and said, I believe in consensus? And what a prize we have to fight for: no less than the chance to banish from our land the dark divisive clouds of Marxist socialism. You cannot have the dream of building up your own fortune by your own hopes, your own hands, and your own British guts. Democratic nations must try to find ways to starve the terrorist and the hijacker of the oxygen of publicity on which they depend. Let our children grow tall, and some taller than others if they have it in them to do so. A world without nuclear weapons would be less stable and more dangerous for all of us. You dont tell deliberate lies, but sometimes you have to be evasive. The government has failed the nation. It has lost credibility and it is time for it to go.   (just before her win in 1979) All attempts to destroy democracy by terrorism will fail. It must be business as usual. Europe will never be like America. Europe is a product of history. America is a product of philosophy. We lost 255 of our best young men. I felt every one.  (about the Falklands War) I wouldnt want to be prime minister; you have to give yourself 100 percent. It will be years- and not in my time- before a woman will lead the party or become prime minister.  (1974) I hope to go on and on. There is so much still to do.  (just before winning a third term) I have no wish to retire for a very long time. I am still bursting with energy.  (just before winning a third term) You need quite good shock absorbers and a sense of humor to be the Prime Ministers child. Quotes About Margaret Thatcher She approaches the problems of our country with all the one-dimensional subtlety of a comic-strip.   –  Denis Healey Attila the Hen.   –  Clement Freud In Margaret Thatchers view, her sex is an irrelevancy, and she is annoyed by people who make too much of a fuss over it.   –  Allan Mayer, biographer Margaret Thatchers great strength seems to be the better people know her, the better they like her. But, of course, she has one great disadvantage- she is a daughter of the people and looks trim, as the daughters of the people desire to be. Shirley Williams has such an advantage over her because shes a member of the upper-middle class and can achieve that kitchen-sink-revolutionary look that one cannot get unless one has been to a really good school.   –  Rebecca West For the past few months, she has been charging about like some bargain basement  Boadicea.   –  Denis Healey Thatchers impatience is undiminished. Head thrust forward, purse in hand, she marches on, pursuing her crusade to put the great back into Great Britain.   –   Los Angeles Times, about her third term When Mrs. Thatcher says she has a nostalgia for Victorian values I dont think she realizes that 90 percent of her nostalgia would be satisfied in the Soviet Union.   –   Peter Ustinov Shes never seen an institution she doesnt want to bash with her handbag.   –  Anthony Bevins Although a populist, she is the ultimate argument against the contention that a political leader needs, in her person, to be unpopular.   –  Hugh Young, biographer The thought that she might not be right has never crossed Mrs. Thatchers mind. It is a strength in a politician.   –  Labor Party deputy leader Ray Hattersley Thatchers memoirs are essential for an understanding of her time because they capture all the qualities of her character and, inevitably, some of her defects as well. They are lucid, opinionated, self-assured, wide-ranging and indispensable.   –  Henry Kissinger Reality hasnt really intervened in my mothers life since the seventies.   –  Carol Thatcher, Margaret Thatchers daughter The biggest story of 1982 was the Falklands war. The second biggest also involved my mother... and me.   –  Mark Thatcher, Margaret Thatchers son, about his disappearance in 1982 during an automobile race I dont pretend that Im anything but an honest-to-God right-winger- those are my views and I dont care who knows em.   –  Denis Thatcher in 1970 about himself I think I have become a bit of an institution- you know, the sort of thing people expect to see around the place.   –  Margaret Thatcher about herself

My Philosophy of Education Personal Statement Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

My Philosophy of Education - Personal Statement Example When planning the educational philosophy, we should consider our purpose and know our goals to teach the students. The educational philosophy consists of theories that include logic, epistemology, metaphysics, and axiology. Logic finds answers to questions and is thus a way to evaluate arguments. Epistemology is the study of the philosophy of knowledge. It provides insight into such dimensions of knowledge as faith, reason and truth. Metaphysics is the study of reality (metaphysics-for-life.com, n.d.). It provides insight into the spiritual and religious knowledge and issues. Axiology is the knowledge about values. As a professional educator, we should have the right values, morals, and motivations to inculcate in the students. In the realm of the philosophy of education, there are certain questions that need be answered. They are: Who should know? What to know? How to know? When to know? And Where to know? This set of who, what, how, when and where completely defines the philosophy of education. Let’s start from the answer to the first question; Who should know? My philosophy of education says that everybody should know. Education is a fundamental necessity of every human being in the present age. It is not a matter of choice. Anyone who is born in the present age is obliged to receive education irrespective of his/her financial status. It is for this reason that going to school is compulsory for both the boys and the girls. What to know? is a suitable topic for debate. There has conventionally been considerable debate about what should be included in the curriculum and what not. These days, there is increased emphasis upon the importance of inclusion of such controversial topics in the curriculum as sex education. I believe that anything can be taught but following the standards of ethics. For example, students must be educated upon the importance of using contraception in sex and be made aware of the different kinds of sexually transmitted diseases an d the potential protective measures that can be taken to avoid them. The students must not, however, be shown any sexually explicit material in the name of education. This is my educational philosophy for a classroom setting. In the present age, knowledge is omnipresent. Normally, people are expected to know principally about the profession that they have formerly seeked education in, but nowadays, there is so much awareness that an individual that has not even pursued education about a certain field can get to know pretty much about that. This can be explained with the help of an example. Let’s suppose a teenage boy feels that his chest is a little too puffy than it should be in the boys his age. He needs to know if there is a medical problem, but he thinks that the condition is too embarrassing to discuss openly with his parents, siblings, friends or the doctor. It is just he who knows it and wants to do something about it. But the boy does not need to disclose his conditio n to anybody as long as he has a computer with an internet connection. All the boy needs to do is type â€Å"what causes puffy chest in teenage boys† in the search engine and the next thing he sees is links to innumerable articles about gynecomastia – that is a condition in which men grow unusually large chest because of hormonal imbalances. The boy gets to learn the name of his condition for the first time, and the moment he knows the

History 1949-1960 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

History 1949-1960 - Essay Example This was used in the observation of outer space, including galaxies and distant planets. In the same year, an American banker, John Biggins invented credit cards, which initiated the use of plastic money for expenditures. Later, the transistor, a device used to switch electronic signals, was invented in 1947 by John Bardeen and Walter Brattain. In the same year, a number of tests led to the invention of a supersonic aircraft. This increased the speeds of airplanes from transonic to supersonic. Still in 1948, cable television came into being from the diligence of John and Margaret Walson. The year 1952 saw the origination of airbags as safety gadgets in automobiles. Barcodes and artificial hearts were also technological improvements in the same year. In the computer world, the hard disk drive was discovered in 1952. This appreciably augmented the memory capacity of computers. These and many more hundreds of inventions market the high-tech innovations in America between the year 1946 a nd 1960. Naturally, technological advancements had substantial effects on America. America’s economy grew considerably because it was able to process superior goods through a short and efficient production process (Saul, 1970). New ways of production were initiated, and new products produced. Consumers were able to get low-cost high quality goods. Technological developments also led to urbanization as people moved into America from the outside world to take up the new jobs that were accessible. There was also an extraordinary migration from the rural to urban areas as people looked for jobs, according to Saul (1970). Cities began to enlarge because they had to accommodate the large incursion of people immigrating into the city. In addition, technological advancement also enhanced substructure. Transportation was upgraded as better roads, and faster rail came to place (Mollenkopf, 1983). The improvement of air transport also meant that people could travel to other continents
